Deposits, Waitlist Order, and Puppy Selection

To join our reservation list, a deposit is required. Deposits are accepted in the order received, and puppy selection is offered in that same order—first deposit selects first, second selects second, and so on. This structure protects fairness, removes guesswork, and keeps the process transparent from the start.

We do not accept deposits unless we reasonably expect to place a puppy within the stated timeframe. If timing changes due to factors outside anyone’s control—such as a smaller litter than anticipated—we communicate promptly and provide clear next-step options consistent with our policies.

Because puppies are individuals, and because the right match matters for lifetime success, we also provide structured temperament observations as your litter approaches go-home. This is not about “controlling” selection. It is about ensuring you choose with strong information rather than pressure, urgency, or emotion in a high-stakes moment.

Before selection, you will receive a clear summary of each puppy’s observed traits—such as energy style, recovery after novelty, handling tolerance, and social preference patterns—along with our recommendation based on your household’s daily rhythm, experience level, and goals. You will always make the final selection. Our role is to help you make that decision with clarity so the placement is stable, successful, and sustainable for life.

Why our deposits are non-refundable 

Deposits are non-refundable because they reserve a place in line, reduce waitlist instability, and prevent “breeder hopping” (placing deposits with multiple breeders and withdrawing based on who has puppies first). This allows us to plan placements honestly and fairly for all families on the list.

If your timing changes

If your timing changes, your deposit can be applied to a future litter as a credit under these terms:

• Credit may be transferred one time

• Must be used within 12 months of the deposit date

• Transfer requests must be made in writing before puppy selection begins

Temperament evaluations and ethical matching

We provide temperament observations and lifestyle-fit guidance to help each family choose the best match when it is their turn to select. If we believe a particular puppy would be a difficult fit for your household goals, we will explain why and recommend the best available match. If you prefer to wait for a better fit, you may use your deposit credit toward a future litter (per the policy above).

If we can’t provide a puppy as reserved

If a puppy cannot be provided within the agreed scope (for example, the litter does not occur), you may choose either:

• to transfer your deposit to the next suitable litter, or

• to receive a refund.
